We’re celebrating our nation’s independence this weekend and rather than continuing the hate and rhetoric of the current political climate, why not, relax, kick back and enjoy one of these top 10 patriotic movies. It’s good to be an American!
1. “The Patriot” starring Mel Gibson. This movie is actually about our war for independence against the British army.
2. “Born Yesterday” from 1993. With Melanie Griffith, Don Johnson and John Goodman.
3. “An American President” starring Michael Douglas, Annette Bening, Martin Sheen and Michael J. Fox.
4. “Forrest Gump” with Tom Hanks. Winner of six academy awards, this film follows the history of a simple young man, through the segregation and poverty of the rural south, to the jungles of the Vietnam war, the anti-war protests in Washington D.C., to the hurricanes in the Gulf coast and even a trek across the continent as Forrest runs across the nation. It follows the history from the 50’s to the early 1980’s. Great film.
