Some actors just make better directors.
Case in point. Opie Cunningham. Yes, Ron Howard was the infamous Opie Taylor on everybody’s favorite sitcom/series, “The Andy Griffith Show”. And while those two iconic characters are memorable, neither of them showed an amazing acting talent.
But consider “A Beautiful Mind”, “The Da Vinci Code”, “Backdraft”, “Apollo 13”, “Cinderella Man” and even his first directorial debut, “Splash” and you can definitely see where his real talent lies.
Or you may remember “Meathead” from the 1970’s sitcom, “All in the Family”, or you may not. That was Rob Reiner’s best known acting role.
But the movies “When Harry Met Sally”, “Misery”, “The American President” and “A Few Good Men” are all more memorable than “Meathead”. Again we see where the real talent lies.
