The surprising box office results from the past weekend of November 20-22 saw a new film breaking records as New Moon from the Twilight Saga caught the attention of fans. New Moon now ranks third in biggest opening receipts following The Dark Knight and Spider-man 3.
In second place was the football drama “The Blind Side” based upon the true story of Michael Oher of the Baltimore Raven’s. “The Blind Side” took in $34.5 million. Last week’s top movie 2012 dropped down to third place with $26.5 million. 4th place for the week was the animated tale of Planet 51 with a $12.6 million debut.
1. The Twilight Saga: New Moon – Summit – $142,839,137
2. The Blind Side – Warner Bros. – $34,119,372
3. 2012 – Sony – $26,410,206
4. Planet 51 – Sony – $12,286,129
5. A Christmas Carol (2009) – Walt Disney Studios – $12,275,024
I saw the interview with the real Michael Oher very, very inspirational. Watch the trailer below and then go see the movie.
