Amy Adams, who charmed us in “Enchanted”, “Julie and Julia” and other sweet natured roles has been given the opportunity to test her acting chops and showcase her talent by being cast as legendary rocker Janis Joplin.
Janis Joplin was an American singer and songwriter, who rose to prominence in the 1960’s. She was known for having lived a wild and rebellious life, a known user and abuser of speed and heroin. She was also noted to be a heavy drinker, with her favorite drink being Southern Comfort. Rumor has it that she was bi-sexual and enjoyed the “free love” and “sexual revolution” of the late 60′s.
Janis Joplin died October 4, 1970 at age 27 from an overdose of heroin, possibly complicated by alcohol.
