As many avid readers will confess, many times movies are not nearly as good as the books that they were adapted from.
However, movies do have their own magic and a recent movie adaptation of the Jodi Picoult novel “My Sister’s Keeper” is a wonderful movie that stands on its own. Just make sure that you have plenty of tissues for the tears as it is a real tearjerker.
Sofia Vassilieva does an amazing acting job as Kate Fitzgerald, the young teenager with the illness.
“My Sister’s Keeper” was released in June of 2009. Based on the book of the same name by Jodi Picoult, it follows the tribulations of a family with a sick child, who conceived another child through in-vitro fertilization in order to have a genetic match to keep the first child alive.
The only disappointment in the movie for readers who loved the book is the changed ending.
