Jen Kornfeldt (Heigl) meets Spencer Aimes in beautiful Nice, France while she is vacationing with her overprotective father, played by Tom Selleck and her mother, played by Katherine O’Hara.

They fall in love and marry but 3 years later, she finds out that he is an International Spy with a bounty on his head. The couple is dodging bullets, literally as they try to escape from the many friends and neighbors that are trying to assassinate Spencer.

Fun movie for a casual evening with nothing serious going on.

And some actors are not worth even half of their own salary.

Every year they come up with a list of the most bankable actors in Hollywood. In order to qualify, they must have made at least 3 movies in the past 5 years and the movies must have opened in more than 500 theaters.

In a look at the 36 top earners in Hollywood, the same name hit the top of the list for the second year in a row.

Shia LaBeouf brings in an astounding $81.00 of pure profit for every one dollar of his salary. This is in part due to the huge success of two of his movies, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”.

Anne Hathaway came in at second place, with $64.00 profit per dollar salary.

Third place went to Daniel Radcliffe, who brought in $61.00 per $1.00. While Daniel does command a very large salary, the “Harry Potter” movies have all been mega-blockbusters so it makes up for it.

Fourth place-Robert Downey, Jr. at $33.00
Fifth place- Cate Blanchett at $27.00

And rounding out the top 10…..

6. Jennifer Aniston-$21.00
7. Meryl Streep- $21.00
(shouldn’t that be a tie? Or shouldn’t Meryl have top billing? Or is that just details?)
8. Johnny Depp- $18.00
9. Nicolas Cage- $17.00
10. Sarah Jessica Parker- $17.00

Sheldon Turner, the screenwriter who was nominated for as Academy Award for writing “Up in the Air” is set to write the screenplay, which is purported to have Cooper and Reynolds as cops and friends whose fathers were also cops and friends on the police force. They need to bring in their fathers to help crack a new case.

The movie is expected to receive an R rating and be similar in tone to the “Lethal Weapon” franchise, which helped launch the careers of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.

The movie, which is not biographical but a work of fiction, tells the story of the poet’s pursuit of a serial killer who uses his stories as inspiration for murder. The movie portrays the last five days of Poe’s life.

The title is based upon a famous narrative poem by Edgar Allan Poe that was first published in January 1845.

In the second place spot was “Takers” with $11,450,000.00.

“Machete” came in at a very close 3rd place with $11,300,000.00

“The Last Exorcism” and the new Drew Barrymore, Justin Long chick flick “Going the Distance” came in at fourth and fifth place respectively.

Since Labor Day is on Monday, it may be expected to raise the profits with people going to the movies on their day off.

Remember “Maid in Manhattan”? and “the Wedding Planner”?

Well, her latest attempt “The Backup Plan” may have actually been worse. And it is a shame that Alex O’Loughlin played her love interest. (Course, he may have been the only redeeming factor in the film, because he does look good.).

But J’Lo’s character, “Zoe” was totally unlikable. And the relationship between her and “Stan”, Alex O’Loughlin’s character, was totally unbelievable. She treated him poorly, yet the poor guy just kept pursuing her, artificially inseminated pregnancy and all.

There were also a couple of scenes that were quite vulgar and disgusting….I mean, just because you’re pregnant does not mean you lose all sense of decorum.

And apparently I was not the only one who didn’t like the movie. Check out the reviews for yourself.

The Backup Plan is not worth the time it takes to watch.

And Jennifer Lopez does not have the magic or charisma to pull off a romantic comedy….

Which makes you think about fame and the monster it can be.

Lindsay Lohan is famous. Every week a new tabloid story airing her dirty laundry comes about.

Meryl Streep is a great actor/actress. You don’t see her in the tabloids.

Brangelina, Bennifer (yes, the now defunct…) and the likes are famous. Tom and Katie, they are also famous.

But Tom Hanks is a great actor. Haven’t seen his dirty laundry either.

And we rarely see the dirty laundry of Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, Renee Zellweger (well except for that ill-fated marriage to another non-famous, famous guy, Kenny Chesney).

Nor do we see the tabloids with stories about Richard Dreyfuss or Kurt Russell or Richard Gere. Bradley Cooper is a hit and miss. Charlie Sheen, and I love Charlie but he can’t seem to stay out of the dirty laundry business.

But we still occasionally see Clooney.

And Brad and Angelina make the headlines every week….(and even so, I’ve enjoyed their work, can’t say their not good actors).

So what makes someone famous and what makes a great actor?

So how did the summer box office fare?

1. Without competition, the top box office earning movie of the summer was “Toy Story 3” bringing in $895 million and counting. “Toy Story 3’ has now earned more than the first two “Toy Story” movies combined.
2. In the number two spot another animated mega film, “Shrek Forever”. With $663 million, it is still the worst performing of all the “Shrek” films in the United States but the overseas box office put it over the top.
3. Another sequel comes in at third place. “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” brought in $650 million. Two more Eclipse films are slated for the Novembers of 2011 and 2012.
4. “Iron Man 2” came in at fourth place with $622 million. What is with the sequels this summer?
5. “Inception” rounds out the top five with $478 million, quite a good showing considering it didn’t hit the box office till halfway through the summer on July 16.

And there you have it, the top box office hits of summer 2010.

What do we have to look forward to in movies for Fall, The Holidays and Winter?

Following 2 weeks in the number one spot “The Expendibles” slipped down to third place with $9.5 million, making its total take so far $82 million.

“Eat, Pray, Love” is holding steady in fourth, with $7 million for the weekend.

“The Other Guys” was fifth with $6.6 million.
