Some actors can be worth their weight in gold at the box office.
And some actors are not worth even half of their own salary.
Every year they come up with a list of the most bankable actors in Hollywood. In order to qualify, they must have made at least 3 movies in the past 5 years and the movies must have opened in more than 500 theaters.
In a look at the 36 top earners in Hollywood, the same name hit the top of the list for the second year in a row.
Shia LaBeouf brings in an astounding $81.00 of pure profit for every one dollar of his salary. This is in part due to the huge success of two of his movies, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”.
Anne Hathaway came in at second place, with $64.00 profit per dollar salary.
Third place went to Daniel Radcliffe, who brought in $61.00 per $1.00. While Daniel does command a very large salary, the “Harry Potter” movies have all been mega-blockbusters so it makes up for it.
Fourth place-Robert Downey, Jr. at $33.00
Fifth place- Cate Blanchett at $27.00
And rounding out the top 10…..
6. Jennifer Aniston-$21.00
7. Meryl Streep- $21.00
(shouldn’t that be a tie? Or shouldn’t Meryl have top billing? Or is that just details?)
8. Johnny Depp- $18.00
9. Nicolas Cage- $17.00
10. Sarah Jessica Parker- $17.00
