Woody Beats Out Shrek

“Toy Story 3” has now beat out “Shrek” to become the top-grossing animated film worldwide.

“Toy Story 3’ has now taken in a total of $920 million compared to the former record set by “Shrek” of $919.8 million. It has also set the record of being the fourth-highest grossing film from Disney coming in just after the two “Pirates of the Caribbean” and Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”.

During the opening weekend of June 18, “Toy Story 3’ was the highest-grossing opening weekend for Pixar, with a $109 million haul in North America and also the 11th Disney/Pixar to debut in the number 1 position for opening weekends.

For those of you who have missed it at the theater, “Toy Story 3” will be released on Blu-ray and DVD right on time for the Holidays on November 2, 2010.
